Ainslie Embree

Ainslie Thomas Embree (* 1921) ist ein US-amerikanischer Indologe und Historiker.

Embree studierte an der Columbia University mit dem Bachelor-Abschluss 1941 und der Promotion 1960. Von 1948 bis 1958 lehrte er am Indore Christian College in Indien, danach lehrte er als Professor an der Columbia University. Er war mehrfach zu Studienaufenthalten in Indien (so 1963 und 1967) und Direktor des Southern Asian Institute an der Columbia University. 1991 emeritierte er.

Er war Präsident der American Association for Asian Studies und des American Institute for Indian Studies.
